The Los Angeles Kings began their 2022-23 season on the same day the Los Angeles Dodgers started their postseason run, and with both teams playing meaningful games once again, the hockey club showed their support.
In the second game of their season on Thursday, the Kings played a look-a-like segment on their scoreboard featuring Dodgers players. Included was Justin Tunrer, Tony Gonsolin and Max Muncy, who each had their photo shown next to a fan in the building.
At the end of the segment, Houston Astros second baseman José Altuve was shown, and after he received some boos from the fans, the Kings placed a trash can next to him on the screen.
The Astros, of course, defeated the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series before it was revealed the team conducted a sign-stealing scandal with trash cans at the forefront of the system.

MLB’s investigation found the organization installed a camera in center field at Minute Maid Park to capture signs of opposing teams. Astros employees then deciphered the signs on a television near the dugout and relayed the results to batters by banging loudly on a trash can.
Altuve was a key member of that Astros team, so he is among the players who still get called out the most for it, along with Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa and George Springer.
Last season, Dodger fans made sure to remind the Astros of the scandal with constant loud boos and an inflatable trash can that was thrown onto the field.
Bregman was also reminded of the cheating during a Spring Training matchup last year as a security guard mockingly banged on a trash can while the third baseman was up at the plate at Roger Dean Stadium.
Jaime Jarrín dropped puck at Kings Game
When the Kings hosted their annual Dodgers Night last season, Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín on hand to represent the team.
The Dodgers’ broadcaster had the honor of dropping the ceremonial puck before the Kings squared off with the defending Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay Lightning, who came away with a 6-4 win
This year, Jarrín completed his 64th and final season with the Dodgers while he received multiple honors from the organization, city and media.
