Trevor Bauer Partners With Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation On ‘Ks for a Cause’

Trevor Bauer launched a season-long initiative — “Ks for a Cause” — to donate $1,000 per strikeout to support local nonprofit organizations focused on STEM and/or youth programming in the greater Los Angeles area.

Bauer is funding the initiative through grants from the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF). Think Together is the beneficiary for April, and a total of six nonprofits will be supported by Bauer and the LADF throughout the season.

Founded in 1997, Think Together partners with schools to change the odds for kids. The organization delivers nationally recognized early learning programs, afterschool programs, student support services, and school improvement.

Bauer’s donations will help fund afterschool STEM and robotics programming for middle school students in southeast Los Angeles.

The right-hander will also partner with the Dodgers’ official foundation to evaluate potential partner organizations and to work with receiving organizations. “It’s something that I’m passionate about. I’ve done different charity things throughout my career,” Bauer said.

“Sometimes I don’t talk about them because I don’t really need to brag about the things that I do. But I wanted to make this one public, especially in partnership with the Dodgers and their foundation. Just something that I can give back to the community.

“Obviously I grew up in Southern California, and I’m passionate about that and passionate about education. I’m trying to give our youth opportunities that they may not have otherwise. There’s a lot of great foundations out there that do that and Think Together is one of them. I look forward to supporting more organizations as the year goes along.”

Bauer also will highlight the selected organizations through a dedicated content series on his YouTube channl and with limited-edition “Ks for a Cause” merchandise on his website. All proceeds from merchandise sales will benefit that month’s designated organization.

Bauer began the initiative in impression fashion as he collected 10 strikeouts against the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Bauer wasn’t consumed by potential no-hitter

During his dominant outing at Coors Field, Bauer held the Rockies without a hit through six innings. However, potentially throwing a no-hitter was not something that entered his mind.

When asked at what point he began to think about making MLB history, Bauer responded, “Never.”
