MLB World Tour 2024: Gocheok Sky Dome Renovations For Seoul Series

As part of the 2024 MLB World Tour, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will make history by playing the first regular-season games in South Korea.

The two-game series will be played at Gocheok Sky Dome from March 20-21, with local start times of 7:05 p.m. (3:05 a.m. PT). The stadium opened in September 2015 and is traditionally home to the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO League.

The Dodgers will play exhibition games against the Heroes and the Korean National Team before facing the Padres to open the regular season.

With the Seoul Series just over a week away, KBO insider Daniel Kim shared photos of the new lights, turf and clubhouse at Gocheok Sky Dome:

Anticipation is high for the Seoul Series due to the star power that will be on display. The two-game set will feature some of the biggest names in the sport, including Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr., just to name a few.

The Dodgers recently confirmed that Tyler Glasnow will take the mound for them in the regular-season opener, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto to follow him in Game 2.

Glasnow will become the first pitcher to start on Opening Day for the Dodgers in his inaugural season with the team since Derek Lowe in 2005.

What’s more, Yamamoto is set to become just the sixth pitcher in Dodgers franchise history to make his MLB debut in one of the team’s first two games.

Dodgers travel roster details for Seoul Series

The Dodgers are scheduled to play their final Cactus League game on Wednesday and will need to make additional roster cuts ahead of traveling to South Korea. “Wednesday at some point we’ve got to identify 31 players to bring with us,” manager Dave Roberts said.

“And at that point in time, you get to choose your 29 (for active roster and taxi squad). Twenty-six will be active for the first two games, the real games.”

The Dodgers will be permitted to bring 31 players to South Korea, but only 26 can be active for their two-game series against the Padres, with another three making up their taxi squad.
