Dodgers Vs. Guardians Game Preview: Amed Rosario In Lineup Against Former Team

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track against the Cleveland Guardians after a tough loss in the series opener at Progressive Field.

Clayton Kershaw makes his 19th start of the season and third since coming off the 15-day injured list. He allowed one run over five innings in both of his outings since re-entering the Dodgers rotation.

Despite earning a win in his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers, Kershaw wasn’t pleased with his performance. “Better to be lucky than good,” he said after the Dodgers’ 7-1 win.

“So many great defensive plays, a lot of lineouts right at guys, Mookie (Betts) and Freddie (Freeman) made big plays for me. Kiké (Hernández) and C.T. (Chris Taylor) in the outfield. It wasn’t pretty tonight and I definitely was lucky, but at the end of the day I’ll take it.

“Getting through five again and just kind of building up kind of slow. Get ready for the next one.”

Kershaw enters at 11-4 with a 2.48 ERA, 3.69 FIP, 1.03 WHIP and 9.5 strikeouts per nine in 105.1 innings pitched this season. The left-hander owns a 1-0 record with a 3.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in three career starts against the Guardians.

Cleveland counters with Xzavion Curry, who hopes to build on a solid outing against the Detroit Tigers. He gave up just one run on five hits and struck out six batters in six innings pitched.

Curry is 3-1 with a 3.24 ERA, 4.15 FIP and 1.19 WHIP in 75 innings pitched across 31 games (six starts) this season. He is making his first career appearance against the Dodgers.

Amed Rosario is in the Dodgers lineup for his first game against the Guardians. He was with the team from 2021 to this past June upon getting traded to the Dodgers for Noah Syndergaard, who faced his former team on Tuesday.

Being back at Progressive Field gave Rosario an opportunity to reflect on his time with the Guardians, which he remembered fondly. The 27-year-old also said he’s enjoyed being with the Dodgers as well and marveled at the talent on the roster.
