Dodgers News: Trea Turner Plans To Be More Careful When Giving Advice To Juan Soto After Padres Trade

The San Diego Padres made the biggest splash at the MLB trade deadline by acquiring Juan Soto and Josh Bell from the Washington Nationals in exchange for a bevy of top prospects and Major League talent.

The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly made a strong push for Soto, which would have reunited him with Trea Turner. They of course won a World Series together with the Nationals in 2019 and were teammates for parts of four seasons.

Turner also teamed up with Bell during the 2021 season before his trade to the Dodgers. “I told them they look terrible in brown,” Turner said of Soto and Bell landing with the Padres.

“It’s good to see them on a team that’s competing and wanting to win a championship. I think they deserve it. I know Juan’s won a World Series and was a big part of our team obviously in ’19.

“And the J.B. hasn’t been there yet, so hopefully he gets a chance to play in the postseason. I’m happy for those guys and look forward to playing a lot of baseball against them.”

Turner previously expressed a desire to team up with Soto again but now are rivals in the National League West. “Yes and no,” Turner explained when asked if he is excited to play against Soto.

“I mean, yeah, it’s good to see him. But I don’t want to face him. I’m glad I’m not pitching. He’s been hitting the ball pretty good in the last few days since he got traded over.

“I was trying to talk to him about a swing a couple of weeks ago after we faced him. I wanted to help him out but now I don’t really want to help him out.”

When asked if he gave Soto too much advice, Turner joked that he will have to watch what he says going forward. “No. I don’t know,” Turner began.

“I mean, he knows he needs to fix a couple of things here there, but it’s on him to fix them. Now I’ve got to be careful what I say around him. It’s good seeing him but hopefully he keeps it to a single against us.”

Turner: Soto learned ‘business side’ amid trade rumors

After nearly two months of being involved in trade rumors, Turner believes Soto learned that MLB has a business component to it.
