Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Wore ‘Confidence’ In Golden Globes Debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers pride themselves on being a blue-collar team but playing in the backdrop of Hollywood allows for the likes of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and others to capitalize on being near the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Freeman and his wife Chelsea were among those to attend the 81st Golden Globe Awards held at the prestigious Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The Freemans attending “Hollywood’s biggest party” was documented by the Dodgers social media team. In a video shared online, Freeman said he was excited to attend the 2024 Golden Globes to both recognize the film industry and for a night out with Chelsea.

Betts also attended the Golden Globe Awards for the first time, according to Beth Harris of the Associated Press:

“This is our first time being out and being able to attend something like this. We watched it on TV so much,” Betts told The Associated Press.

Betts is the co-owner and a producer under One Media/Marketing Group (OMG), and gaining further Hollywood insight and connections was the impetus to attending the Golden Globes:

“That’s the plan, right?” Betts said. “Just put yourself in the surroundings and you see what happens.”

While Hollywood stars are accustomed to answering a customary question, Betts was caught slightly off guard when asked about his black tuxedo and instead highlighted his outlook:

“I’m wearing confidence,” he said.

Betts and the Freemans saw “Oppenheimer” come away as a big winner with five Golden Globes, including Best Picture and Best Director. “Barbie,” “Succession” and “The Bear” also won multiple awards each.

Mookie Betts media deal

In January 2022, Betts signed a producing contract with Propagate to create multiple media projects. Propagate was founded in 2015 to develop, produce and distribute “programming built upon great stories spanning all genres, including premium scripted series, long-form, unscripted and formats, to broadcast, cable, digital and emerging platforms worldwide.”

Among other media ventures, Betts worked as an MLB correspondent after the Dodgers were eliminated from the 2023 postseason.
