Dodgers News: Matt And Jesica Beaty Hope Matt Beaty Fund Provides Relief To Tennessee Communities Affected By Tornadoes

A tornado outbreak devastated communities in parts of the South and Midwest last week, killing over 90 people and leaving thousands of others displaced.

Among the hardest-hit places was Dresden, Tenn., the hometown of Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Matt Beaty and his wife Jesica Beaty.

To help provide relief, the Beatys have made personal donations and are encouraging others to do the same either through the Matt Beaty Fund that was established in 2019, or other disaster-relief avenues.

Beaty hopes the funds raised will help families get back on their feet and is grateful for the outpouring support from Dodgers fans, via Jerry Crasnick of MLBPA Players Trust:

“We wanted to open up this fund because people have so many needs right now. Supplies. Tarps. Clothing, There are Christmas presents that little kids have lost out on, I’m sure. But we also want to make sure they have what they need to build those businesses back up. And that’s just part of the platform that I have. We’ve already had a Dodgers podcast, Dodgers Nation, make a generous donation to our fund. It’s so special to know we’re able to have that outreach and people care enough to pour back in and help with something that matters so much to me.”

Although the Beatys no longer live in Dresden, they still consider themselves to be part of the community, and Jesica noted every cent raised will go directly to those impacted by the tornadoes:

“We started the Matt Beaty Fund in 2019 to support the sports programs in Dresden and Weakley County, so I think it was meant to be that we’ve already established something like this. Even though we don’t live there anymore, we will always be plugged into the community. Whatever help we receive from this, we want to do something very tangible. We have family and friends that are going to be living this in the days to come. However people want to help, it’s going to go right back to the ground there.”

To make a donation to The Matt Beaty Fund for relief efforts, Jesica asked that the money be sent to her Venmo account, which can be found here.

In addition to the Beatys, Walker Buehler was directly impacted by the series of tornadoes that wrecked havoc across six states.

The Lexington, Kentucky native is donating autographed bottles of whiskey and a Dodgers jersey that will be auctioned off in the Kentucky Bourbon Benefit.
