Dodgers Highlights: Corey Seager Provides Game-Winning RBI; Julio Urias Strikes Out 11

The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from consecutive losses and earned a series split with the Seattle Mariners behind a 1-0 victory effectively thanks to Corey Seager, Julio Urias, Victor Gonzalez and Kenley Jansen.

Heading into the afternoon matchup at T-Mobile Park, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the responsibility was on Urias to get the team off to a strong start. He accomplished exactly that in what wound up being a pitcher’s duel against Marco Gonzales.

Urias held the Mariners to just one hit — an infield single — and set a career high with 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. “I know I’ve said it before as far as best outing I’ve seen from him at different times, but I just can’t recall any better from the first pitch to the last pitch,” Roberts said after the Dodgers’ 1-0 win.

“Efficiency, command of all three pitches, getting ahead of hitters. He had complete control. Story was the breaking ball, throwing it for strikes, swing and miss, mixing the fastball, changeup. It was just a clinic on pitching.”

Urias punctuated his dominant performance by retiring the final 13 batters faced. He was followed by Gonzalez, who worked around a walk in the eighth, and Jansen set the Mariners down in order in the ninth.

Seager supplies offense

Gonzales had the early workings of a perfect game but lost it when AJ Pollock led off the third inning with a double. After Austin Barnes drew a walk with one out, Dylan Moore made a second spectacular diving catch in as many games, this time at second base and robbing Chris Taylor.

While it kept the game scoreless, that wound up lasting all of one more pitch as Seager lined an RBI single into center field.
