The Los Angeles Dodgers look to continue their dominant ways against the Arizona Diamondbacks and pick up a series win after Monday night’s 5-1 victory that saw Clayton Kershaw make his return off the 60-day injured list.

This season L.A. is 12-2 against Arizona while scoring 102 runs in those games and only allowing 37. The Dodgers’ success against the Diamondbacks is a good representation of their respective seasons as they are 92-53, good for second in the National League West and first in the Wild Card race.

Tony Gonsolin takes the mound for his second start since coming off the IL on Sept. 9.

The 27-year-old has spent a lot of time on the IL this season, but when he’s been on the field, has been a solid option, posting a 2.79 ERA and 4.35 FIP across 38.2 innings in 10 starts.

Despite all the time he has missed, Gonsolin has already made three previous starts against Arizona this season and holds an ERA of 3.86 against them. However, he has been limited to 9.1 total innings pitched in those starts.

The D-Backs offense has, to put it nicely, been bad against almost every pitcher this season, but right-handers, in particular, have given them struggles as they are hitting .229/.302/.366 with an 80 wRC+ against them.

Arizona counters with Luke Weaver, who has also made 10 starts this season. In those outings he has posted a 4.24 ERA and 4.12 FIP across 51 innings.

Weaver has not faced the Dodgers this season but he has made six career starts against them. In those starts, he has not found much success, posting a 7.25 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched.

The Dodgers against righties are hitting .243/.335/.418 with a 107 wRC+.

Chris Taylor is still expected to be unavailable as he recovers from a neck injury. The Dodgers are expected to make a decision on whether or not to place him on the injured list on Wednesday.

Prior to the game the Dodgers reinstated Kenley Jansen from the paternity list and optioned Mitch White.
